Project context
Diagnostic engagement for a regional high-voltage substation in Colombia experiencing recurring surge arrester failures. The investigation combined a ferroresonance study with EMTP modelling of the substation to identify the source of temporary overvoltages.
Scope of work
- Root-cause analysis of repeated surge arrester failures at the substation.
- Ferroresonance study of the substation configuration and switching conditions.
- EMTP modelling of the network to reproduce and characterise temporary overvoltages.
- Mitigation recommendations to prevent recurrence and future outages.
